HR Strange But True

I Have Many Skills; Giving Out Terrorist Locations Is One of Them!

LinkedIn® is a great website if you’re looking to recruit candidates for a specific role. You can find skill sets endorsed by the candidate’s “followers” and get a general idea of the person’s work history, without having to review his or her résumé. However, sometimes you find more than what you bargained for!

According to The Indian Express, a former New Zealander has created a profile on LinkedIn touting his many skills and describing himself as an “education management professional.” Seems pretty innocent, right? Well, guess again. It is HRSBT that you’re reading, after all!

The profile belongs to Muhammad Daniel, and he happens to work for the Islamic State (aka ISIS). According to Daniel’s profile, he claims, “Living in the heart of the Islamic State is a good experience and I encourage others to come and see for themselves.” He adds, “There’s no danger here and a great place to bring up the family. Except Western Jet fighters that always drop bombs on Civilians.”

The profile states that Daniel has been teaching English to children, aged 5 to 12, in Raqqa since October 2014. In his bid to potential employers, Daniel states, “I’m loyal, discipline [sic], hardworking and have a large range of skill sets!” However, if any potential employer tries to look him up, they’ll find his loyalty only goes as far as his technological skill set.

In 2014, he failed to turn off the location services on his Twitter account, thus ousting the location of the ISIS fighters to Western intelligence agencies. But hey, we all make mistakes, right? It’s no wonder he’s created an account on LinkedIn!
